Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath has clarified that Sri Lanka has not entered into the Economic and Technology Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) with India. He pointed out that the present focus remains on continuing the existing discussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Minister made these remarks today (20) during a special press conference held to provide insights into President Anura Kumara\u2019s recent visit to India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minister Herath emphasized that the government will not enter into agreements that could harm the country\u2019s interests but remains committed to promoting economic and trade cooperation between the two nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe ETCA discussions have been ongoing for some time, and our focus has been on advancing these talks. No agreement was signed during the President\u2019s visit to India. Certain individuals are spreading false claims that the ETCA agreement has been finalized, but this is entirely untrue.
