Popular vlogger Bruno Divakara filed a case against the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), seeking Rs. 50 million in damages for his arrest in 2023 under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) Act.
Divakara, owner of the SL VLOG YouTube channel, was arrested in May 2023 after sharing a video of comedian Nathasha Edirisooriya’s stand-up show, which was accused of containing derogatory remarks about Buddhism.
Both were released in June 2024 when all charges were dropped.
Attorney-at-Laws Thishya Weragoda, Dilan Nalaka and Thamila Perera are representing Divakara in the case.
