Seventeen former members of the Kurunegala Pradeshiya Sabha, affiliated with the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), have declared their support for President Ranil Wickremesinghe in the upcoming presidential election.
This decision was made following a meeting with the United National Party (UNP) Assistant Leader, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, where they committed to working towards President Wickremesinghe’s electoral victory.
In related developments, appointment letters were presented yesterday (19) to the newly appointed District Organizers of the UNP at the party’s headquarters, Sirikotha, under the patronage of President Wickremesinghe.
Among the appointees, MP Ishak Rahuman and former MPs P. Harrison and W. B. Ekanayake were named District Organizers for Anuradhapura, while former Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) member Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe was appointed as a Colombo District UNP Organizer. Additionally, former Deputy Minister Nishantha Muthuhettigamage was appointed as a Galle District UNP Organizer.
A total of 295 individuals were also appointed as District and Electoral Organizers during the event.
