President Ranil Wickremesinghe is set to deliver a special statement in Parliament tomorrow (July 02) regarding recent agreements on debt restructuring with creditor nations.
However, the scheduled Parliamentary debate on these agreements, initially slated for July 2nd and 3rd, has been postponed. This decision comes following the passing of former Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Leader R. Sampanthan.
The remains of R. Sampanthan, a TNA member and former Opposition Leader, will be placed in state at Parliament on July 3rd from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. He passed away at the age of 91 while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Colombo.
