The incident involving gunfire directed at the vehicle of former Anuradhapura District SLPP MP Uddika Premaratne was likely orchestrated by the actor-turned-politician himself, with the assistance of an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in the area, the police claimed today (13).
Police Spokesman DIG Nihal Thalduwa disclosed that individuals connected to the incident have been identified through investigations conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
On 17 September 2023, unidentified gunmen fired shots at Premaratne’s car shortly after his return to his residence in Anuradhapura around 10.35 p.m. the MP escaped the scene.
On 27 February 2024, Premaratne resigned as an MP.
