The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has lodged a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) regarding a forged letter that falsely claimed party leader Sajith Premadasa had accepted an invitation to a debate hosted by the Independent Television Network.
Speaking to the media, SJB’s legal counsel expressed hope for a fair investigation into the matter, noting that a similar complaint had been filed by the party on 26 April.
The fraudulent document, allegedly circulated on social media, suggested that SJB leader Sajith Premadasa would participate in a highly anticipated debate with NPP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake last week.
In reality, only Dissanayake participated in the live broadcast. The SJB clarified that Premadasa never accepted an invitation to take part in the program.
