Committee Formed by Sri Lankan Police to Probe ISIS-Linked Arrests in India

Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon has initiated an investigation into the four Sri Lankans allegedly associated with ISIS, apprehended at Ahmedabad Airport in India.

According to Police Media Spokesman DIG Nihal Thalduwa, a committee has been established, with the DIG of the Criminal Investigation Department and the Director of the Terrorism Investigation Division as its key members.

The arrest of the four suspected ISIS operatives occurred in Ahmedabad on Monday (20), following a bomb threat received by the city airport.

Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad apprehended the individuals, believed to be Sri Lankan nationals, based on intelligence inputs.

Vikash Sahay, Director General of Police, Gujarat, disclosed that the suspects boarded an IndiGo flight from Chennai to Ahmedabad on Monday (20).

The arrest ensued after authorities cross-verified passenger information with Colombo officials, leading to the identification of the suspects: Mohammad Nusrat, Mohammad Farish, Mohammad Nafran, and Mohammad Rashdeen, aged between 27-43 years.

As investigations unfold, it has been revealed that one suspect hails from Negombo, while the others originate from Colombo and its environs.
