In an official statement, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced that the Colombo District Court has issued an injunction against opposition MP Hesha Withanage in response to recent accusations directed at SLC officials.
The legal action stems from allegations made by the MP regarding SLC’s involvement in the Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup held in Australia the previous year.
The claims were reportedly based on a preliminary report from the Auditor General’s Department, which was later made public through media outlets.
The SLC contends that a group led by MP Hesha Withanage leveled unfounded accusations of wrongdoing against SLC officials during the 2022 Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup.
Consequently, the Colombo District Court has issued a restraining order preventing MP Hesha Withanage from making any statements concerning SLC and its officials based on the aforementioned draft report from the Auditor General’s Department.
