Bhanuka Rajapaksa has decided to withdraw his decision to retire from cricket following a meeting with Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa.

Leading ODI and T20 batter Bhanuka tendered resignation to retire from international cricket, citing ‘family obligations.’

Accepting the resignation the SLC said, “Rajapaksa, in his letter of resignation handed over to Sri Lanka Cricket, said the decision to resign was taken after considering his family obligations.”

“I have very carefully considered my position as a player, husband and am taking this decision looking forward to fatherhood and associated familial obligations,” SLC quoted him as saying in the letter.

However, the media has reported that the 30-year-old power-hitter has said in his resignation letter that he will not be able to pass the latest fitness standards the SLC has introduced.
