Agriculture Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage said that the Chinese organic fertilizer company will send fresh smaple batch to Sri Lanka after a harmful bacteria was detected in samples that sent earlier.
The Minister said that the company admitted its mistake pledged to take steps to rectify it.
Sri Lanka is also holding discussions with India to secure fertilizer. The government will never import organic fertilizer that is harmful, he added.
Sri Lanka halted the importation of a organic fertilizer from the said Chinese firm after laboratory tests proved it contained harmful bacteria named Erwinia for the second time.
