Control prices would be implemented on rice and sugar from tomorrow (2) with the intention of providing essential food items to the public at reasonable prices, State Minister of Co-operative Services, Marketing Development and Consumer Protection Lasantha Alagiyawanna said today (1).
During a media briefing, Alagiyawanna said that the large volumes of sugar discovered from warehouses in recent times will be sold through Lanka Sathosa and Co-operative outlets.
Furthermore, 1kg of brown sugar will be sold at Rs. 130 through these outlets, he said. This new price is effective from today (1), he added.
