SLPP National List MP Gunapala Rathnasekara today said that the government decided to amend chemical fertilizer ban as some sectors cannot move into organic fertilizer at once.
Speaking in Parliament, Rathanasekara said,
“This is a basic principle of management. We took the decision to ban chemical fertilizer to protect the people. This is a President’s promise and it has been implemented successfully. But when we analysed this, it was shown that some sectors cannot adopt to chemical fertilizer at once. Therefore, we decided to amend the ban and allow certain sectors to look into the possiblity of importing chemical fertilizer.”
