Governor of Uva Province, A. J. M. Muzammil, has submitted his resignation in a letter addressed to President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
In his letter, Muzammil stated his intention to back Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa in the upcoming election.
He explained that while serving as Governor, he maintained professionalism and integrity, making it inappropriate for him to publicly endorse any candidate while holding office.
Muzammil also expressed disappointment over certain Governors campaigning for Presidential candidates while still holding their positions.
