Starting today, election processions have been banned until the conclusion of the presidential election. The police have been instructed to enforce this ban strictly across all stations.
Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Asanka Karavita announced that the removal of illegally displayed posters, banners, and cutouts used in presidential election campaigns will also begin today. The National Election Commission has approved the recruitment of workers for this task, covering all parts of the island, with the process expected to be completed within the next few days.
Police headquarters is overseeing these recruitments and has authorized the deployment of workers to remove illegal billboards until September 21, the date of the presidential election.
