Businessman Caught Smuggling Rs. 440 Million Worth of Gold Biscuits at BIA

The Narcotics Control Unit of Sri Lanka Customs has seized 16 gold biscuits, valued at approximately Rs. 440 million, from a passenger attempting to smuggle them into the country at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake.

The smuggler, a businessman from Galle who had arrived from Dubai, attempted to bring the gold into Sri Lanka earlier this morning (13).

He had concealed the gold biscuits in two parcels, each containing eight pieces, which were hidden in a side bag and then taped under a luggage trolley as he prepared to exit the airport.
