The Nuwara Eliya Magistrate’s Court has ordered the arrest of several suspects, including Minister of Plantation and Water Supply Jeevan Thondaman.
Acting Magistrate Jayamini Ambagawatte instructed the Nuwara Eliya Police to arrest and produce the suspects in court.
Minister Thondaman, who serves as the General Secretary of the Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC), faces accusations of unruly behavior and allegedly threatening the management of a Nuwara Eliya tea estate on 31 May.
Minister Thondaman stormed into the Head Office of the Nuwara Eliya Pedro Estate, part of Kelani Valley Plantations PLC, causing disruptions in tea production.
Despite being summoned by the Nuwara Eliya Police to appear in court today, Minister Thondaman and the other suspects failed to do so.
