President Ranil Wickremesinghe has submitted a Cabinet paper proposing the appointment of a committee to conduct threat assessments on presidential candidates and former Presidents.
According to the President’s Media Division (PMD), this initiative is in anticipation of the forthcoming Presidential election and aims to ensure the safety of all candidates.
The PMD further stated that a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) will be appointed to oversee these security arrangements, ensuring the necessary security measures are in place.
