Public Security Minister Tiran Alles has directed IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon to initiate an investigation into allegations made by MP Dr. Harsha De Silva that he received death threats related to his probe into visa issuance by VFS Global.

Dr. De Silva, Chair of the Committee on Public Finance (COPF), alleged in Parliament today (7) that he is facing undue threats connected to the VFS visa issuance process.

The COPF conducted a probe into the matter, and Dr. De Silva announced that he would present a comprehensive report about the investigation to Parliament in the coming week.

He claimed that while he hadn’t received explicit death threats, he sensed the presence of “invisible forces” at play.
