Delivering the Budget Speech, Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa said that the Treasury lost about Rs. 500 billion due to the pandemic within a year.
Rajapaksa is presenting his maiden Budget speech at the moment.
He said that the national security has been ensured in the country now and government has paid special attention to the food securiy as well.
Rajapaksa praised his brother President Gotabaya Rajapaksa saying that the latter provides steady leadership to the country.
“We have 2/3 majority and I’m glad that PM Mahinda Rajapaksa, who is the most experienced leader in the Asia lead it,” he said.
