Former Sri Lankan fast bowler Shehan Madushanka who was in custody for processing heroine was released on Presidential Pardon today (20).
The Presidential Pardon was granted from 86 prisoners who were in prisons for minor offences to mark the Prisoners’ Day on 12 September.
He was arrested in May 2020 after the drugs had allegedly been found in a car Madushanka had been travelling in. His arrest was the first time a contracted player was remanded over a drug charge.
Madushanka was immediately suspended from all forms of cricket with immediate effect after the arrest.
The 25-year-old took a hat-trick in his first one-day international against Bangladesh in January, 2018, in Dhaka and played two more Twenty20 internationals on that tour before being side-lined with injuries.
