The Proclamation of Emergency Regulations by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa was passed in Parliament today (6), by 81 votes.
Accordingly, it was received 132 votes in favour while 51 MPs voted against.
The President enacted the Emergency Regulations for the provision of essential food items in accordance with the powers vested in him under Section 2 of the Public Security Ordinance.
The SJB, ITAK and Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) voted against the regulations.
