A crucial meeting will be held this morning under the patronage of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa this morning to take a decision regarding imposing travel restrictions owing to the rapid increase of COVID-19 patients and deaths.
The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Ministers, health experts and Director General of Health Services will be participated in the meeting. They will discuss about the current situation of the pandemic and future decisions which should be taken to curb the spread of the virus, Army Commander General Shavendra Silva had told Daily Mirror.
Several health experts warned of higher number of COVID-19 deaths and the patients due to the spread of COVID-19 delta varient in past few days requested the government to impose travel restrictions immediately.
The government in response, revised several COVID-19 health guidelines including the number of wedding attendees.
