Sri Lanka is among the top 10 slowest mobile internet providers in the world.
According to the Ookla’s Speedtest Global Index , Sri Lanka is ranked 129th and the June data available on the index shows that Zambia, Uganda, Tanzania and Somalia are closest to Sri Lanka.
In the meantime, according to the Speedtest data released by Ookla, Sri Lanka is ranked 126th among countries that provide Fixed Broadband internet access.
The Internet is as critical to infrastructure as plumbing and electricity and Internet speed in a country is another measure of a country’s development. However, it is no secret that consumers are unhappy with local ISPs.
The situation is even more tragic as the corona epidemic has forced the country’s education, jobs and businesses to rely heavily on the Internet.
Meanwhile, India has increased its internet speed by 47%.
Internet download speeds in India have increased by forty-seven percent in the past year, according to the Speedtest data released by Ookla,
