Indictments have been filed against former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal and three other defendants, accusing them of causing financial losses to Sri Lanka through investments in Greek treasury bonds in 2012.
The defendants allegedly caused over Rs. 1.8 billion in losses to the government through these bond investments. After the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) submitted the indictments, the Colombo High Court granted surety bail of Rs. 10 million each to the defendants.
